Heavy Air Happy Hour

Heavy Air Happy Hour Is a monthly series at Cafe Mustache hosted by ASY centered around strictly acoustic small-group free improvisation. The intention is to create enough open space for deep listening and intimate communication to take place between performers that don't necessarily get the chance to play together regularly. With no amps or PA systems musicians will be compelled to lower their volumes to match the quietest instruments and work within that space.

Since beginning early in 2019 the series has featured some of Chicago’s finest improvisers including: Angel Bat Dawid, Jaimie Branch, Michael Zerang, Quin Kirchner, Bill MacKay, Haley Fohr, Jason Stein, Damon Smith, Tyler Damon, Chloe Yu Nong Lin, Lia Kohl, Nick Alvarez, Gerrit Hatcher, Zach Good, Paul Giallorenzo,  Jerome Bryerton, Carol Genetti, Julian Kirshner, Paul Hartsaw,Sarah Clausen, Molly Jones, Jeff Kimmel, Ryan Jewell, JayVe Montgomery, Adam Shead, Ben Baker Billington, and Alex Wing.
